Cancer Survivor Park

A tribute to anyone who has had cancer affect their lives. This parkette is situated on Glen Erin Drive at the West border of the Credit Valley Hospital and the adjoining Cancer Treatment Unit.

Found this beautiful plant along a pathway in Streetsville Memorial Park.
Nice, pretty looking flowers. I almost bent over to see if they had any smell.
You may even be tempted to cut some and take them home to your backyard.
I'm glad I didn't.

Marilyn and Friend

This is a shot of the new condos going up on the Eastern border of Square One. The building on the right has been nicknamed Marilyn after Marilyn Monroe.

Here is the background information on the nickname according to Wikipedia.

Absolute World Tower 4 was dubbed Marilyn Monroe by Sam Sibai during the announcement of the winning Yansong Ma design, because, to him, it "looked like Marilyn Monroe." The variation of the rotation of the floorplates--from two to eight degrees--and the high position of the "bulge" in the silhouette give this tower its dynamic feminine profile. The Absolute World Tower 5, on the other hand, is characterized by a uniform rotation of each floor and a lower swelling of its profile; inevitably giving it the appearance of Marilyn's masculine companion.

Kariya Park

A wonderful little park to escape the hustle of all the activity taking place at City Hall and Square One.

As you can see from the plaque, this park is dedicated to our twin city, Kariya City in Japan.

Condo City

A panoramic view of all the condos that have appeared over the years , just South of Square One. This panorama was taken looking South from the corner of Burnamthorpe and Duke of York Boulevard.
Even more construction is going on to the West and North of this location.

The Credit River

On a beautiful late Spring evening, what better way to enjoy nature in the middle of Mississauga but on the banks of the Credit River. This shot was taken at sunset, so that I could get a nice slow shutter speed that I wanted for the rapidly moving water.

Bicycle Art

A wonderful little piece of whimsy discovered the the Port Credit Marina. No explanation, no signs, just something you stumble upon as you walk the pier.
The flower basket most certainly adds the finishing touch.

Testing one two three, testing

Another shot from the opening night of Carassauga. This is the audio board the engineer uses to make sure everything sounds absolutely perfect. Believe it or not, every row of buttons has a specific purpose.

Optical Illusion

Walking around the Square One area the other day I came across this "scene". There are actually 3 buildings in the shot. I lined up the reflection of the middle building to look like an extension of the building on the left.
If you would like to try this yourself, I took the photograph at the corner of Hurontario and Robert Speck Pkwy.

Who's on first?

First part of a double play, as the runner is called out during a game between Brampton and Guelph at a tournament played on the weekend at the Erindale Cardinal field situated at 9th line and Dundas.

Amazing Wood Sculpture

I was coming back from a meeting this morning when I passed this wonderful piece of art sitting in a small roadside parkette at the corner of Eglington and Ridgeway. The detail and beauty of the carving gave me no choice but to stop and take some photographs. Go have a look yourself, photographs don't do it justice. There is even a small bench provided so that you can sit and contemplate this work at your leisure.

I researched the artist, his name is Jim Menken. He has a website where you can see more of his work, and you can even commission him to do a customized piece for you.

Foggy Morning at Saddington Park

Enjoy a 2 minute relaxation break with this video I shot on a cool foggy morning down at Saddington Park. This was actually a happy surprise. I was up early hoping to get some sunrise shots over Lake Ontario, and I was greeted with this weather instead. I'm glad it happened.

What better way to start a photography blog all about Mississauga than by with Her Honour, Mayor Hazel McCallion. "Hurricane Hazel" as she is called by her supporters has been our Mayor since 1978.
